This is moby djing at the love parade in 2008...
Now when i was scanning through the numerous dj sets captured at love parade, i think its safe to say that i did not think that my favourite performance would be from this man, good as he is, he was playing with plenty of serious players here...well he simply made me smile when i watched him, and he really sums up the fact that djing isnt just about the record...it is a performance no question!!!
This maniac is Tom Middleton, and the only word that i can use to describe him is inspirational. Through his djing and production this lad has triumphed the simple notion that music changes everything and there are no rules as long as it sounds good, and feels right.
Below is an interview he did for an underground series that came out a while ago.....that boy's shakespeare!!!!
Here are the links for the rest of this series as its quality stuff..

My kind of Essential Mix
This section is good. Real good. Trust me .Even writing this bit is getting me worked up. This show on radio 1 has been running for well over 15 years now, and its importance to me, and influence on me cant really be summed in this wee paragraph. Well before the luxuries of the internet and computers, labour had to be employed in order to have a C90 cassette tape ready at 2am every sunday morning on the dot to begin recording, then turned over 45 minutes in , then a new tape allocated for the last half hour...no matter the hassle..no matter the cost in terms of sleep or sanity!!!!
Why???
Simply put it broadcast a 2 hr dj set from all the best djs in the world, even live sets of them playing in clubs!!! ohhh baby!!!
Pete Tong's essential mix, along with the help of his essential selection was the king when i was growing up, and even though the tunes covered the whole dance music spectrum and so didnt always tickle my pickle, it was alwyas religously tuned into every week on the eternal search for the nuggets!!!!
So my plan here then is to post essential selections of the past that i loved, and pick out my favourite tracks for you to savour!!!
This week its a mix that was recorded live at back 2 basics in 1996.There is something really special about listening to a club recording of a great dj set and i remember recording it at 2 am in my bedroom with headphones on and really struggling not to scream euphorically and start dancing in my top cat pyjamas,..only kiddin............but seriously...that actually happened though!!!...lol
Top picks would be ..
track 3 ..Chris Simmons - "untitled" (Cross Section)
track 5...Laid Back Luke - "Not Impressed" (Groove Alert)
track 7..Ian Pooley - "Don't You Be Afraid" (Force Inc)
track 8...Mone - "Movin" (AM:PM)
track 10...PRL - "Keep On Climbin'" (Satellite)
or to put it another way...all of ralph's set which is the first hour!!!
Black market funk is the name, and its basically a record company
that has a guy called rascal who is creating podcasts that are actually
golden and really worth listening to. Podcasts and blogs are taking
over, and while this makes finding quality tunes for our day to day
soundtrack so much easier for us inferior masses, it means wading
though lots of real dross. Here is the link...same deal as groove therapy in that its eclectic but game on...dae it!!!

This is sound on sound. It is a magazine. It has a website, and it has a forum and even a podcast.....big deal you may say, well it actually is to be perfectly honest. For any enthusiast enjoying, working or studying anything to do with recording and the constantly changing technology and techniques involved, the importance and role this resource plays cannot be put into words...so i wont even try. There are free articles and reviews dating all the way back to 1993, only the past 5 months of articles cost mulla..
...get yourself to the site....NOOOO!!!!!

Lovin this guys work just now...GROOVE THERAPY is the name of his radio
show has been broadcasting since 2002.His name is Shannon Briggs
(Frenzie)and there is an archive of past shows and podcasts
here.. http://groovetherapy.podbean.com/
Dont get me wrong its eclectic and you need to filter through the
whole podcast and seek out the nuggets that work for you but there is
some serious stuff going on there!!!
Its time for the new season to begin!!!!!!This little beauty of
a show gets me through most things i'm dreading doing...cleaning, diy,
etc. If you've never listened to it here is the link to past shows... http://www.anton.co.uk/fighting/.It
returns this SATURDAY 5th SEPTEMBER at 11am.....comedy chat about sport
of the highest quality. The link for the present shows is
